It's time for my yearly CHOCOLATE ORANGE. Who else gets one every year?

I "computer" pretty hard. More so than most of my friends. The new office is now a little warmer with lots of blinking lights and whirring fans. PC count, 5 physical machines with 8 more on the home lab. Oh, and an aquarium. :D

Nice. Remote work requirements are STRICT for this new job. Never thought I'd have to relocate my cable modem and send pictures of it to satisfy setup requirements. That said, it was a good opportunity to clean up my home office!

Over at my in-law's house for the holiday. They mention they have a DOGECOIN they found, but didn't know where it was from. Turns out it's my MOON DOGE replica from 2015. I thought I'd lost it! They didn't have the certificate, but I've got my coin back!

Things got confusing at my last D&D session. This time around, I printed a large map and stuck it to poster board. Bought a pack of multi-colored ball pins. Should make it a lot easier to track the Giants and Orcs as they rampage through Triboar!

Helluva day. Cousin is flying in, needs a pickup from the airport. My aunt is dying in the hospital. I also wake up to a dead battery in my truck.

Just waiting for that third "bad thing" to hit. Trouble comes in threes, right?

My wife can get very enthusiastic about cooking, with one major caveat. She generally won't start anything herself. Instead, I learn about something new, start the process.. And she takes over full throttle.

Last week it was "eggy bites", aka mini quiches.
Today it's spatchcocking a turkey!

Hey, first paycheck at the new job. Niiiice! *Immediately buys something unnecessary, but very cool, online.*

Why am I like this?

Can we talk about how today is EMPANADA DAY at Taco Bell?

I'll never forget, the kind people Taco Bell gave my wife and I free empanadas on our way home after our wedding.

I'm also embarrassed to admit I was upset when their empanada was discontinued. BRING BACK THE EMPANADA!

Only my 3rd week on the job. Too soon to call in sick with a cold, although I was tempted. Guess what kids! I'm hopped up on cold medicine. Keep away from patient Zero over here!

I started Storm King's Thunder for my group last night. I think that first fight in Triboar almost broke a few of my players. They're very risk averse, and having to keep NPCs alive is causing some extra stress. I love it! *cackles happily in DM*

Been a "front-end" developer for years, always flirted with the database side of things. New job has me elbows deep in SQL. Definitely a learning experience. #softwaredev

Love the current job. It's stable and supportive.

Will continue to reach for the brass ring of employment though. I want my WFH, #webdev life back. I miss having my dog around during the day.

User @litSquib over on Reddit just posted a giveaway for a watch they developed. It's an awesome LCD timepiece with a TTRPG dice complication! I'm not posting for the giveaway, but this is too great to NOT share.

Dungeons & Developing the D-20 Watch
The germ, so to speak, for Timestop and the D-20 watch came out of the pandemic. I was running a makerspace, playing D&D, and doing some small electronics projects with my kids. I was spending a l...

Just started a new job, supporting software that's literally as old as I am. I mentioned using CSS to update a page view during today's meeting. Got a round of laughter in response. I start learning this last 40+ years of code.
