While it sucks Gen AI companies have tainted it's meaning, we should not stop using it to describe the various other types of AI or even the study field. That's the objectively correct name

Gen AI basically works on probabilities to generate what goes where, and also to identify what's in the image. So 1) it might not give a correct description and 2) it might describe way too much or too little

But that's what these algorithms are tho. They are AI algorithms. If the algorithms can learn to identify content and patterns in it and perfect their output accordingly with what they've learn, they fall under the category of AI
