and i’m saying this as someone who has recently been enjoying the show as its own thing, but it kind of drives me crazy how much the show was marketed as a “faithful adaptation” when it’s more of a rewrite than an actual adaptation

like genuinely all of the promo leading up to the show was “it’s nothing like the movies! it’ll be just like the books!” so how do you not expect people to gripe when you’ve set their expectations like that and then have the actual show deviate so far from the original plot and characterizations?!?!

i did see some stuff for the later eps that made me go 🤨 but the new choices the writers are making so far actually make sense and feel emotionally earned lol. ep4 was sooo excellent i'm still reeling over it. i really hope they can keep it up for the rest of the season

ep1 felt like a remnant of s1 with how clunky the pacing was but they've really been hitting their stride these past few eps? like it's actually watchable and not a slog to get through anymore lol? the action, cgi, and especially the acting has improved soooo much :'))
