When your response to someone encouraging local activism to support potentially the most critical protest in US history is to put up a picture of a woman's head being crushed by a black boot, you're indistinguishable from trolls and fascists who want that image too become reality

I've been making the same statement to white senators on BlueSky, and while not in relation to Marshall earning his seat on the court, I've made the same calls to my senators (Wyden and Merkely)

3/ And look at how the Trump admin responded to Kirk's killing. Nothing was known about the killer, but they rushed to declare war on the left

What? This was how Bernie celebrated a win in the primaries. Explain how this was supposed to attract Democrats to support him

Compare Mamdani to Bernie. Mamdani presents the progressive left as the Democratic party itself, staying quiet about centrists. Bernie spent 2016 and 2020 presenting the left as an aggrieved minority and celebrated his primary victories with posts like this

Not every discussion has good outcomes. Below is one that did. Should we do the same and discuss how we can boost Pritzker over Newsom?

Except withholding votes always ends in disaster. Look at the horrors of W Bush, Trump, and then add their SCOTUS appointments.
It also makes you persona non-grata. When you claim you have the ability to throw the election and do so, you've thrown everyone under the bus and gotten nothing in return

I would be very happy to see a wave of Mamdani like candidates challenging Democrats that have failed to meet the moment. Key to that is Mamdani offering a unifying message. Contrast that with Sanders celebrating a primary victory with this tweet

Apologies for so many replies, but FWIW, the conversation with you and others on the subject of Newsom has led me to promote Pritzker on pro-Newsom threads. I hope that makes you feel like the exchanges yesterday resulted in positive change.

Through the exchanges with the trans community this is how I'm approaching Newsom supporters.

2/ It's that last part that a lot of progressives forget. Bernie's message to Democrats was "you're no better than Republicans and deserve to lose unless you make me the nominee." The fact he doubled down on that rhetoric in 2020 doomed him there too

Edited 2/ That said, about 15% of Biden voters stayed home, and I believe the pro-Gaza people launching all their attacks on Biden / Harris and giving Trump a pass contributed to that drop off.

We have fucking CONCENTRATION CAMPS aren't enough for you to say "MAGA must be defeated at all costs, and that includes voting for a candidate I'm not enthusiastic about"

Neutrality / Inaction when the alternative is a fascist is not defense you think it is.

The Dems have their flaws and we need to change leadership, but even if insurgent candidates lose the primaries, we end up in situations like this

The evil that is happening under Trump and MAGA is just starting and will claim tens of millions of lives. But for every life lost, family destroyed, horror unleashed, the far left will always respond "BUT WHAT ABOUT GAZA?"
