You can read a five-chapter preview of my novel "The Turning" at my website, with links to buy the book at FurPlanet and the book at Bad Dog Books! My queer goddesses might bring about the end of the world—but maybe the world could use a little apocalypse.
New Novel: The Turning
My next novel is out in July 2025, and you can download a preview here!

For some reason this has been a very high ennui day for me.

What server are you trying to register at? If it's not working, you can always try a different one.

For people who are following me here and checking out Mastodon, you can follow me there by searching for @[email protected]

Hm. Clicked the "raccoon" tag on my website on "Lavender Latte" and realized that of the three raccoon-featuring stories there, only "Latte" has a *nice* raccoon. One of the others is an implied serial murderer and the third is a Galactus-level apocalypse.

I don't think there's a reliable one, but choosing one of the biggish furry ones is a good start. Just like Twitter in its first ancient days (or FA now!), if you find just a few people, you can find out who they're following. Also the live feed of your server might show interesting users.

I was there until I started running my own Mastodon server because I am apparently that kind of masochist. :) (my post limit is bumped to 1500 characters.)

New post: “Look, just fucking use Mastodon already” https://giants-club.net/articles/just-use-mastodon/

A short, unnecessarily profane rant about modern social media, not really serious but not really a joke, either. With apologies to McSweeney’s.

About to post something that will lose me followers on Bluesky. I love you all, don't hate me.

Portland certainly isn't without its issues, but it's a really interesting city in one of my favorite parts of the country. And housing costs in Florida have skyrocketed in the last few years, to the point where Portland might be a bit cheaper than Tampa or Orlando.

Hi, war-torn Portland resident here

It's awful, just terrible, all this beautiful nature and fresh clean air

Assuming retirement means “no corporate job and just concentrating on weird stories,” she would love it. :)

I suspect I’ll be able to retire within the next few years, although that will be…complicated emotionally since it implies getting an inheritance when my mother passes. (Although I can’t rule out getting sufficiently fed up with Florida that I insist on moving both of us early.)

I am, for the record, still expecting to retire some time within the next few years and move to the (checks notes) war-torn hellhole of (checks notes again, squints) Portland, Oregon

This is a really bad time, politics-wise, to keep daydreaming of making a substantial supplemental income through kinky furry stories, but here I remain

This was my college, and I am still incredibly salty about what was done to it on the stupidest pretenses

You'll be shocked to learn New College of Florida is on the brink of implosion just a couple of years after DeSantis engineered an extreme right-wing takeover

Fun fact: NCF's new overlords spend $134K per student (!!...the average at other FL publics is $10K) www.insidehighered.com/news/governa...
Spending Soars, Rankings Fall at New College of Florida
Student outcomes and rankings are slipping at the liberal arts college while spending is up. Critics believe the college is at risk of implosion, and some are calling for privatization.

I must be getting better at this job, it only took me until mid-Tuesday to want to slack off and do my own stuff

Different time period. :) Although I do want to write another story with Nora sometime.

This is partially on my mind because I suspect the Korps novel, if it happens, will be at best "macro-adjacent," but super furry. But also just more Arilin-esque? I dunno. We'll see where this thought goes.

Also, I have put a pin in a note reading "gender-flipped furry Sherlock Holmes."
giants-club.net
It's occurred to me over the last few months that Arilin might just become my furry-specific pseudonym, rather than macro-specific, leaving my other name as the furry/non-furry crossover brand. (Assuming I ever come up with one of those again.)

I'm sorry, but stop rebuilding that overpass there, it's clearly a bad location

I only had two drinks, so I did very little damage walking to dinner! Which is at a Mexican place!

…with great margaritas!

…sorry

I am not saying Morgan's Cove makes being stuck in Tampa Bay bearable, but I am not not saying that
The Rum Barrel cocktail at Morgan’s Cove, an orange-ish rum drink served in a brandy snifter with a cherry, dried pineapple, and paper umbrella garnish. The drink is on a Don the Beachcomber coaster (Morgan’s Cove is owned by them).

Going to the tiki bar now. That doesn't mean I can't write from here, but after two drinks I may be forgetting to include vowels

Hmm. This could retcon in an actual rationale for Mensura-canonical Arilin to open a club, although a bit different than the club as it existed in various role-playing spots over the years. Maybe simultaneously more and less dangerous than the RP version (she says, Schrödinger-ishly). Hmm.

Me: I'm behind on "Mus Numena" after this distracting week.
Muse: write about Ray
Me: The coyote bartender giantess from "Hazing Ritual?" Sometime, maybe, but not—
Muse: giant coyote
Me: This isn't the time for—
Muse: GIANT COYOTE
Me: …giant coyote.
Muse: good kitty
