Pretty common thing to want. Humans are social creatures. But often times it's hard to tell what the community is built around, unless it's a niche such as fighting games.

Just a heads up: only Y0 and Pirate Yakuza feature Majima as a playable protagonist, unless you count his mini campaign in Kiwami 2.

There's Yakuza Dead Souls too, but atm it's PS3-only.

I'll admit, I have yet to wrap my head around the parasocial stuff. 🤔
I hear about it with streamers in general, but I'm like "why pretend a stranger is your friend?"
I will say though, the idea of cartoon characters acknowledging us reminds me of kids shows. Blue's Clues for adults.

As an artist myself, yeah I agree with appreciating the artistry of the models. They're essentially digital costumes.

The low barrier of entry to watch makes sense too, but I always wonder what keeps viewers coming back. Especially for super casual variety streamers.

And look, this isn't for a lack of trying to understand. I watch some vtubers I don't know in an attempt to learn first hand.

Except friend vtubers don't count. I can't be partial if I already know & like you. I needed to study strangers for a more fair assessment. ^_^;;;;

But then after you read someone's vibes, what then? That's where I'm at. What does the audience seek that vtubers provide? You could say they just want a distraction or background noise, but TV and music can serve the same purpose. There's gotta be more than just being nice and cute.

So far I've heard people say they like someone's vibe. What do you do with a vibe? I know it's a certain aura of personality, but I wanted specifics. So far I compare it to shonen anime: they emit an energy that signals their potential strength and abilities.

Guys I think I'm going down a rabbit hole: investigating the appeal of vtubers. Weird for a vtuber to say, I know. But I'm a curious person who wants to know how everything works!
I understand myself very well, including the fact that I'm the odd-one-out in terms of content and style.

Been refreshing the site and clicking Go Online, it's either loading SUPER slowly or not do anything.

Time to wait and see if Valve fixes the site. But on the bright side, this is why I buy my games DRM-free or as physical copies. (´。＿。｀)
