I really wanted this to be operational, but it wasn’t. I also kind of hoped it was a time machine.

After months and months of being frustrated trying to create 30+ minute videos to partner with sound healing/breathwork/yoga sessions, I realized that Resolume (live event visual software) was the answer. I can mix all of my assets together easily and create a “show” that is adaptable.

I should probably use Bluesky for more than bragging about my Mini Crossword times. www.nytimes.com/badges/games...

I decided to throw in some glitch to animated geometry to see how it would turn out.

One day Minneapolis is fighting off ICE agents, the next they’re celebrating a giant pencil sharpening.

There’s argument that AI is an artistic tool just like any other, however imo the other tools can’t gain intelligence. No one is losing their job because paintbrushes exist. Adobe Creative Suite doesn’t require the existence of acres and acres of data centers. It’s a lot to grapple with.

It was good to get out of my Minnesota bubble and see how technology in the arts is developing. I don’t know how I feel about it. There’s a lot of AI that’s being used in really interesting ways, but it still makes me uneasy as we are still determining the climate impact it has.

Of course when the Minnesotan goes to Florida she meets Canadians. One introduced me to someone as being from “the North” and I felt so cool. That never happens. 😂

Nearly all the arch pieces are cut! I wanted a progress photo so I laid the top pieces on the cut lines of the bottom pieces. My fear of table saws means I’m outsourcing those straight cuts to my stepdad.

Insert the Benny Hill theme song. The wind did its best to frustrate me while trying to trace this template, but I got it done eventually.

The Pantages show was fantastic, but I really love comedy in more intimate settings. So glad @joshjohnsoncomedy.bsky.social made a return trip to Minneapolis!

I really appreciate that, at least from my perspective, collectively the internet has agreed that it’s JD Vance’s fault the Pope died.

A short test of projecting on the scale model mandala arch. The gaffer tape hides the seams, making them practically invisible which is exactly what I wanted. #projectionmapping

After days of fiddling and ruminating about the visibility of the seams, I finally have a working model of the mandala arch thanks to gaffer tape. #projectionmapping

If the Connection that includes Katy Perry isn’t “Annoying things no one cares about,” I’m going to be deeply disappointed.

I’ve been on the fence about canceling my mostly dormant Shopify site for awhile, thinking I might try to revitalize it at some point. This makes the decision easy. I hate to cut off potential income streams, but I hate how tech is cramming AI into everything even more.
In a recent memo, Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke said that everyone must demonstrate why AI can’t perform a job before doing any hiring:

"Before asking for more headcount and resources, teams must demonstrate why they cannot get what they want done using AI..."
