...in their desktop even if they don't even pretend to be a shortcut. Great work there.

It is already bad enough that Microsoft insists on hiding file extensions, making it very easy for malware to present itself as an image or document because there's no visual difference between them.

The little nicks all over them show just how much it has been used, and despite that they look to be in amazing state.

It makes sense, in a twisted way. Most nimals are not contradicting their beliefs so they deserve saving, but some people do. So they end up with this weird list of priorities: People like them (beliefs and appearance) > animals > people not like them (beliefs) > people not like them (appearance)

Paraphrasing the "Cult of Done Manifesto": If you succeed at pretending that you know what you are doing, it's indistinguishable from actually knowing what you are doing.

"Am I a fascist?" gives me "Are we the baddies?" vibes.
a man in a military uniform says are we the baddies .
Alt: Gif clipped from a movie, where a man in military uniform says "are we the baddies?".

However, the actors still produce CO2 regardless of them showing up in a movie, so you can't attribute those emissions to acting itself. Meaning the real footprint of someone **acting** is much much closer to zero.
October 3, 2025 at 11:23 AM
... assuming each real actor was doing two movies a year, that means real actors only overtake AI if you have over 200 actors on screen at once in each movie.
October 3, 2025 at 11:21 AM
Google results say that a person in the US has a carbon footprint around 20 tons of co2 per year.
Google results say that video generation AI consumes around 2400 tons of co2 per hour of generated content. Or around 4000 per movie (some movies are longer than others.
So, ...

So, you'd use these like you'd use a casette, by plugging your turntable into the audio input of the computer?

No not perfect. They didn't invest trillions in making everything into a hoverboard to the point you have to actively push hoverboards away for fear of tripping on them anywhere you go even inside your own home.

I couldn't see the typo until after reading this. Then I saw the extra "o".

I don't care that much if the 8-bit guy, or anyone else, likes to carry around a gun. But if he went "some deaths are an okay price to pay for the right to have guns", that would cross a line and ...

Dave from EEVblog said once, paraphrasing: "I'm sure there are things you hate about me, just like if I knew you, there would be things I would hate about you. You have to focus on the things you can agree on or things never go anywhere."
It's a sentiment I really like to follow, but ...

I seem to have a problem with the IRQs so anything relying on IRQs fails because it never triggers.
I also don't have sprites implemented at all so that's another issue. I basically just implemented enough to get the original Donkey Kong to *run* (without sprites, so not playable)

WAIT nevermind what the heck.
I was playing around with the code after testing.
And I just re-ran the ROM and it works now. Gets stuck on the first page, but it loads lol.

I saw it too, and I tried it on my unfinished NES emulator (that I hadn't touched since like 2017) and it didn't even get to the menu. XD
Someday I might do an instruction dump on a different emulator and compare with mine to see where things go wrong.
