Speaking of 2000s... for Votoms merits', I remembered that we wouldn't have FMP and its three best arcs without Votoms either (unless you consider it slop too)).

Heresy feels like it's the same "weird 90s sequels" camp as Orguss 02 and those God Mars/Dancouga OVAs. And the two last recap-sequel-ending-whatever OVAs basically still feel like 2000s gritty b-movie shlock. Though I still have no idea how do you end up with something like this being made.

Pailsen Files dropped around same time, so people would still make comparisons tbh. That show feels right at home in that particular subset of 2000s anime.

I was thinking more of lowkey bmovie-like roadtrip shows like Innocent Venus, etc. The most famous Votoms visual is Chirico wandering about alone.

Canada is supposed to be the leader of 1930s Entente too in this timeline (Central Powers winning WW1), so this extra funny.

They're not the best characters but I feel series would be dryer without them. There have been so many similar shows with no levity whatsoever since that don't stand out. Votoms is kinda flawed but I think it deserves its kino status. We probably wouldn't have stuff like Gun x Sword without it too.
