I think 13 eyes might be the right number, though!

Not everyone celebrates our 4th of July holiday, for good reason. But everyone SHOULD celebrate Year of the Snake, and the 4th is a good excuse for watching sky explosions. :)

I don't want it to be. It was such, such a great weekend. It is going to feel so weird tomorrow morning, not getting up and immediately looking for an instance of something to join to hang out with friends.

I feel like I have fallen into the trap of having pretty flat lighting. That is good for reference images where I want to see the whole creature in its entirety, it lacks something in a final image. This is an attempt at more effective lighting to go along with a dynamic pose.

I really like highly dynamic poses in my snakes. Rising up like this, with deep S curves, really accentuate just how strong and powerful the snake would be. Add to that exposed fangs and spitting venom, and it's just downright unfair!

Oh, and happy year of the snake, in a couple days! :)====<

Someone seems to be enjoying himself out on the water! It's been too cold here to (enjoyably) sail lately, so I have given Nalkazhiil a bit of time on some warm water somewhere. :) Must be nice to be able to bow-ride like that and still steer the boat.

Ssssssnek! While I don't post everything I render here by any means, I will pick some. I like this fellow because I think he ends up in a pretty inhuman, snake-like pose, yet still looks rather upbeat and curious, maybe not even particularly threatening, despite what he is.

I'm learning to slither! This is a pair of animation clips of me working on equations for motion for the snake, automating the slither animation. Turns out, that's not trivial to do! There are still some issues with unwanted lateral motion, but it is getting closer to how I think he would move!

After a while of working on with a bunch of monsters, I went back to my snakey roots. Been working on a new texture for the main snake dude, since the original one was way more skin-like. This is my take on the new texturing, which I think makes him look way more like an actual snake than the old.

We cannot stress enough that adventurers should not attempt to steal from this vault, as it is well guarded. Attempts to bribe the guard with a cut of the gold stolen are almost certainly ill-advised, at best.
Attempts to steal the guard itself, while tempting, are entirely to be avoided.

Finally, this fellow is my latest VRChat avatar. Next time I log in, I'll get a pic of his full body. Now that I am retired (did I mention that? :) ), I am going to spend some time on these avatars and try and make some of the models available for sale.

Of course, Odon's followers are exactly what you would expect. One thing about the snake form I would find very appealing would be the verticality: I am not sure, given the chance, they would spend much time on the ground at all.

Been playing around with modeling what both Gil's and Odon's followers would look like, once they are really "accepted" by their demonic patron. Odon's is well established, but I think this would be Odon's.

I don't know about you, but I am not about to tell that dog to get off the couch.

I've been working on a new VRChat avatar on and off for the past couple weeks, but he's more or less done, with a few small changes left, including animations. Yes, he has way too many eyes. :)

It's inspired by the ESO Mantikora, but deviates quite a bit from the reference images.

I didn't really grow up knowing anything about "furry." In college, I got into D&D with some friends I had. That was my first exposure through some of the game's monsters. When I first saw the Yuan'Ti in1st edition (on the right), that was where I said to myself "I want to BE that!" Here's my take!

Was playing around today with changing some rigging configuration, making things work better if he's stretched out, not in a human posture, but a more serpentine one. The rigging now is a lot more natural for his head to be in line with the torso, instead of looking forward, "human-style."

There's another feature of being a snake: slithering. There's an interesting side-effect to that.
You don't really need high ceilings, no problem slithering through there at full speed. Get some strike-ready S-curves. Lunch, though, will have to resort to crawling around, not ideal for humans.

Here, have a snake! Been playing around a lot lately with this model. It's based on a commercial model, but I have been doing more and more customizing of it over time. The head is pretty much my own sculpt and the texturing is mostly redone. This was playing with more "snake," less "human" pose
