Tiny features make a big difference. There should probably be dogs in your game. Some tiny bugs will take a long time to fix and some big features will be quicker to implement than you think. Try to stay calm and ride the wave. Try to have fun. Games are meant to be fun.

Things 2025 taught me about Game Development Make small games! Your first game should not be your magnum opus. Get the scope down and don't allow feature creep. You don't have to make your own artwork to make a game you can buy asset packs from other artists on itch.io so you can just focus on programming. Some of them are free. (Also don't use AI for artwork, duh) Ask people to play test! They will be happier to help than you think and you're so close to the game that you might not see something obvious

Random thing that took me *all day* to implement: Using Y Sort Enabled in Godot so that items placed are in front of stalls when placed low down, and behind them when placed higher up, then applying the same for NPCs. If done well, nobody will know you did anything at all. #godot #indiedev #gamedev
