November Reads: 🩸📚🖋️📚💙📚

Back to normal with horror and literary on top.

Read some good ones, and some not so good ones thanks to the SG Reads the World Challenge.

Managed to only DNF three this month, with the intention of picking one back up as digital vs. audio.

Shots fired. Not cool IHOP. Not cool. You have forever tainted the great S of my youth.

This is plastered on all of our state government pages. They had to add the quotation by the governor because the original statement without it violated state law. Nebraska Nice. When are you coming back to visit us?

October Reads:

Romance took the lead this month as I try to finish my BIPOC Jane Austen Challenge.

Read “13 Black Cats…” for the first meeting of my new book club at my local indie bookshop Oh, the Horror! I have to say I wasn’t impressed. Storygraph recommendations let me down on this one. 💙📚🩸📚

September Reads: Pretty horror heavy this month. Not nearly as many DNF’s. Actually read some physical copies for once.

August Reads: Didn’t get much read this month (thanks depression), started quite a few for reading challenges and just couldn’t get into them.
Highlights for the month:
Beasts of Carnaval ⏳📚🪐📚
I Who Have Never Known Men 🖋️📚🪐📚
Mister Magic (reread)🩸📚
Misses for the month:
The Bewitching 🩸📚⏳📚

Love my little black cuddle bugs.

July Reads: Rough start to the month, but ended strong. Four DNF’s in a row, I guess that’ll happen when you’re trying to fulfill challenge categories and decide to pick audiobooks for the narrator more than the author/story, but damnit I love Rebecca Lowman. Lit fic beat horror this month!

June Reads: Happy Pride!
💙💜💚💛🧡❤️
I focused on queer authors/themes this month (I was already in the middle of Tomorrow, and…, but it had elements).
Some great reads & some great disappointments. Two DNF’s & one paused, I think I need memoirs to be audio cause they are not my bag.

I love Storygraph so much. This might be my favorite personalized book preview to date.

They do AI right.

Didn’t have starting a war on my 2025 bingo card, but probably should have.

Since my bingo card seems to be full guess I’ll treat myself to a rad shirt and go out in style.

So much has been going on I’m behind in my monthly book posting.

My May hits and misses…managed to get several prompts checked off on my StoryGraph / Book Riot / Jane Austen book challenges.

It was hot in Omaha today, so a lot of people were in the shade and hard to see, this wasn’t everyone, but a decent turnout around 12:30 today.

Some of my favorite signs from the Omaha #NoKings protest.

The horror section (my personal favorite) of my local independent bookstore just went from an end-cap to its own little section! Woot woot! Movin’ on up, at The Bookworm!

April reads: Not sure why Storygraph isn’t accurately tracking my audiobooks, but oh well.

Managed to make it through the month without any DNF’s, mainly due to rage finishing a couple. And I had to pause one from a reading challenge list and come back to it later. It is too slow and boring.

Goddamn kangaroo court. Fuck every last one of these vile subhumans.

Decent turnout in Omaha, NE. Though you can’t really tell from the pictures. #handsoff

March stats. I ♥️ #Storygraph

Got hooked on the kids Sinister Summer series. After this month I needed something light & fun requiring minimal brain power. Ended up getting them for my nibbling!

Yahoo almost got me this morning before I’d had any caffeine. I was utterly baffled. When I got to the part where it quoted Buffett as driving his cybertruck around his Nebraska neighborhood I was like wait, what day is it? The article was deleted off the site minutes after I clicked on it.

Day 1: A film set in a location you would like to go to.

Seems fitting for this challenge, and Scotland is at the top of my list of places to visit (and maybe never leave)…

Rules:

It has to be a book you’ve read.
It has to be a book you enjoyed or learned something from.
