I'd personally love to know why the Tolkien Estate hasn't taken all of these tech startups to court over copyright infringement

My impulse to yell at strangers online has lessened substantially since I got off that site. So much pointless toxicity affecting more than just our social media habits.

Writing about an aspect of this for my master’s thesis — the hyper-emotional appeals and whether they turn people off long-term political participation

There’s a certain brand of commentator that seems to believe everyone should think like political strategists, when lots of people just want to post cat pictures and TV show hot takes most of the time

Social media is optional and left-of-center people are not collectively responsible for pulling right-wingers back from the brink on a website that is specifically designed to amplify their most extreme, reactionary takes.
