I like ghouls. You know, funny little green ghouls. 🧟‍♂️
I'm a horror enthusiast, into rock, metal and blues.
I love nature and all things witchcraft.
The last video nasty I watched recently was Island of Death (1976)
It's everything you expect from the list; gore, boobs, terrible acting, a sexually depraved killer. Fun but all the kills are made hilarious from the weird choice of music they used, they should be horrific but come across as goofy 😂

Next up was the classic I Spit on Your Grave (1978) Definitely one of the best video nasties though they didn't need to linger on the SA as much. Camille Keaton is a horror icon, watching her get revenge is always a delight. I love this alt poster I found.

The next Video Nasty I watched was Possession (1981).
This was decent, but for me it didn't live up to the hype. It's definitely one of those movies people claim to be a fave to seem interesting. Still worth a watch, can't beat a bit of Sam Neill in a horror.

Probably the best thing about The House by the Cemetery is I now have a "new" favourite villain. Dr Freudstein is an undead serial killer that prolongs his life using body parts from his victims. Rob Zombie is said to have partly based Dr Satan on him.

Here's another of the video nasties I'd recommend for fans of badly acted old horrors. It's a fun haunted house meets sci-fi slasher

They can't all be winners, Cannibal Holocaust is definitely one of the worst video nasties, kinda wish they never banned this one cause no one would definitely know about it today if they didn't. Cool poster though.

Also definitely don't watch this if you're an animal lover.

Two good video nasties in a row, mental. This one is a bit like Carrie, it's a lot of fun and a bit mental. Bonus points for having a young Clint Howard as the lead, the man's a horror legend for a reason.

I watched a few video nasties since my last post. Including the infamous The Driller Killer, an ad for this in a magazine is normally credited with being the catalyst that started the banning craze. It's not even that bad, it's mostly an art house drama with a decent short slasher at the end.

Yet another one with lots of potential but another one fumbled. The filmmakers clearly didn't know much about mental illnesses as the patients are either constantly screaming or laughing regardless of their illness.

From one of the best video nasties to one of the worst. This movie feels like having a mental breakdown. The editing is all over the place, it starts off really slow then too much is going on then it's slow again. Then there's the sound, it's so off, chaotic and really annoying through most of it.

This is a fun one, another one of the video nasties. It feels like it's trying to be a more extreme version of Psycho. Would be a great one to remake, I'd have the villain killing people he thinks are full of sin instead of innocent women. Still using fire but in a cleansing ritual kinda way

Another day of watching a few of the video nasties. Delirium (1979) is more of a bad thriller with slasher elements than a horror.

Death Trap aka Eaten Alive (1976)
It's one of those absolutely mental slashers where half the victims seem to be just as unhinged as the killer.

Kinda (Absurd had an absurd plot about a geneticaly altered super human created by, for some reason, the Catholic church, maybe that's why it's called that) the first sci-fi horror on the video nasty list. Your typical mind control alien egg plot.

The only video nasty with cannibal in the title I've managed to watch without paying extra for, so far. Cannibal Man is kinda like those crime comedies where everything keeps going wrong but with murder instead of a kid accidentally stealing a gangster's diamonds.

This is possibly my favourite of the video nasties so far. It's a good old 80's slasher combined with a haunting. Also it's my favourite poster too, it definitely stands out from all the red you normally see

Another video nasty. This one is exactly what you'd expect from a list of banned horror movies.
January 20, 2025 at 9:10 PM
The last one yesterday was The Beyond (1981).
The first supernatural horror on the list.
January 20, 2025 at 7:42 PM
Second of yesterday's marathon was A Bay of Blood (1971). Definitely my favourite so far.

I watched a few of the video nasties yesterday starting with Blood Rights, originally known as The Ghastly Ones. Man that was some interesting camera angles 😂
January 20, 2025 at 7:23 PM
Watched another of the video nasties. This is definitely the worst one so far and not just in how horrific it is (though it's obvious why this one was banned). The others were fun horrors/ thrillers this one didn't know what it wanted to be. The story is so all over the place.

Movie 3 on the video nasties list. Axe! Aka Lisa, Lisa (1977)
January 18, 2025 at 8:09 PM
Second on the video nasties list. Anthropophagous (1980) aka The Savage Island
January 17, 2025 at 5:36 PM
Decided to watch the "video nasties" banned in the 80s, I realised I've only actually watched 3 of them. Started with Absurd (1981)
