It is hard to deal with people like that. I can understand someone coming to a different conclusion based on the same facts, but people like this live in a fundamentally different reality.

I don't know if we can engage with them, but the resulting societal separation can't be good either.

Is your argument that people protesting must be right by default? Because that's what it looks like you are saying and it doesn't seem like a good argument.

I wish someone would ask people who say this the question "If foreign companies are the ones to pay tariffs, how will they recoupe the costs?"

The business model has already failed with the advancement of the internet. I don't think newspapers can afford to hire enough specialist journalists to cover the range of topics that they need to. Unfortunately public perception hasn't caught up to reality.

Political journalism is done by political journalists who follow politics for a living and who don't have the time or expertise to comment on the details of policy, so they really aren't capable of approaching stories like this any other way.
