We had the honor to welcome at FORTH today, a delegation from the National Innovation Center Par Excellence (NICE) and the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI), headed by Prof. Qing Liu, President of NICE/JITRI. The visit included presentations by Prof. Qing Liu and Prof. Dimitris Plexousakis, FORTH’s Vice President and ICS Director, focusing on the mission, research activities, and strategic priorities of both organizations, followed by a fruitful discussion on possible areas of collaboration, and a guided lab tour at the Institute of Computer Science and the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser, visiting the Distributed Computing Systems and Cybersecurity lab, the Ambient Intelligence Program, the Photonics for Heritage Science Group and the Ultrafast laser Micro and Nano-processing group.
This visit builds upon a Memorandum of Understanding signed between FORTH and NICE/JITRI in 2019, which set the framework for bilateral cooperation in high technology and industrial research, including joint projects in informatics, biotechnology, energy, materials, lasers, and other cutting-edge fields.
We would like to warmly thank the NICE/JITRI Delegation members: Prof. Qing Liu, President of NICE/JITRI, Dr. Paul Burrows, Former Vice President of JITRI and Secretary General of the WAITRO, Ms. Xin Yao, Assistant Director of the Overseas Cooperation Department and Representative in the Netherlands, Mr. Cheng Xu, Representative in Northern Europe and Ms. Lilly Liu, Senior Manager of the Overseas Cooperation Department, for their visit and strong interest in fostering long-term scientific collaboration.
On behalf of FORTH, Dr. Emmanuel Stratakis, Acting Director of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser, Prof. Electra Gizeli, Vice-Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology & Biotechnology and Prof. Vasiliki Pavlidou, Acting Director of the Institute of Astrophysics, participated in the meeting.
