Principal at BFJ Planning. Sustainable transportation seems to flow in my blood. I am passionate about it and the characteristics of our built environment that maximize opportunities for us to move around on foot, by bicycle or via public transportation.
I nominate Donald J Trump for the Nobel Chicken Out Prize. It was such a beautiful performance on Friday!

the drivers in the opposite direction and on the other side of the street have a cone of vision of those peds and other users that is much better than the peds on their side, even with the daylighting.

Prohibiting parking within say 20 feet from a X walk to make pedestrians that start to cross more visible to the approaching cars

The law should distinguish between daylighting upstream from the x walk where it is needed, versus downstream from the X walk where it is not needed.

The push for motordom was much broader than just the car industry. Politicians, economists and architects were pushing in the same direction. Look at the modern international architecture movement. There is a Le Corbusier architecture drawing with a note "this street is not for people, but for cars"

There are no data supporting the statement that this change to one-way operation will improve safety. If the conversion ends up with 2 lanes in the same direction on each street, pedestrian safety will deteriorate.

the phasing of traffic signals is part of the car prioritization. our signals are phased to optimize and speed up traffic during peak hours. We need to re-assess this practice. If we look at signal operations on a 24/7 basis +/- 90% of vehicular green phases are not fully utilized.

Latin Times, I-see cars?? Tesla 5.6, Kya 5.5... the fault of the drivers, not the cars...read the whole article. Bizarre. I bought my Tesla 6 1/2 years ago. Didn't buy it for autopilot, but efficieny and climate advantage. I don't use auto pilot often but I think in 1 instance it saved me frm a crash
