In January 2026, Stroud Valleys Project are bringing their Stitch and Stir Roadshow to GL11 Community Hub! Stitch It! will run on Thursday 15 January, 10am - 12pm, and Stir It Up! will be on Tuesday 20 January, 4:30 - 6:30pm. Booking from Wednesday 7 January on https://www.stroudvalleysproject.org/

We're really pleased to share that we've been awarded £5,000 from The Julia Rausing Trust. We've been able to use the funds to support our Christmas activities. The Julia Rausing Trust awards funding in memory of philanthropist Julia Rausing. We are grateful for their ongoing support.

We're finishing up our week of festive thank yous with a shoutout to the staff, pupils and families of Rednock School for this bumper donation of food for our Christmas Appeal. For many members of our community, knowing that the Christmas dinner shopping is sorted can be a huge weight lifted.

It's Thank You Thursday, but this week every day has been about thank yous! Today we're saying a massive thank you to everyone who donated toys to our Christmas Appeal. We're just absolutely amazed at your generosity and know this will make so many children very happy this Christmas. Thank you!

Congratulations to eight year old Elwood from Tetbury, who entered our GL11 John Lewis Christmas Hamper prize draw at the Dursley Festive Lights switch on last month, and picked the P30 winning square! Your Mum is very pleased and proud. Great job Elwood.

It's been a week of Christmas meals at GL11 Community Hub for our Explorers, Community Lunch, and Family Friday groups. Sharon and her team of volunteers have been working hard in the kitchen, roasting turkeys, preparing vegetables, and serving up Christmas pudding.

Unfortunately GL11 will be closed tomorrow (Saturday 13 December) due to unforeseen circumstances. This was due to be our last Saturday opening of 2025. In 2026, we will be opening on the first Saturday of each month (with the exception of January). Our next Saturday opening will be 10 January.

2,200 - that's the number of people we welcome to GL11 Community Hub every month. Some of them might be coming for a craft workshop, or to use the food bank, or to have a cuppa in the cafe... Whatever the reason, it's our aim that all of them will find us a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space.

Last year, 16% of households in the UK experienced food insecurity, a total of 14.1 million people, including 3.8 million children. It may be that they ran out of food and couldn't afford to buy more, or that they reduced the amount they were eating or went hungry due to a lack of money.
