"The obvious must be stated - no translation of Norwid can match the original. It is impossible to climb to such heights as Norwid achieved. However, a translator can forge a path to those peaks. Kraszewski has undoubtedly done this. His translations read just as if walking a safe path."

Thank you, Richard. Your words gave this book its new voice, its second life. No cover, no matter how striking, could ever capture what you've accomplished between those pages. That's the real art. The rest is just packaging for the truth you've delivered.

The old Dover editions were honest. Plain. True. But a man can admire simplicity while another builds something new. In the end, we're all just trying to keep good words alive. Some with fancy covers, some without. The words inside - that's the real fight worth having.
