Courts ensure fair elections, but electoral lawsuits can also be used to attack opponents or discredit the process. For instance, none of the 400+ lawsuits filed before the 2020 U.S. election succeeded in court, and the most recent election saw a similar number of cases.

I see there is the leastcostpath package that is more updated, but I think I tried and still preferred gdistance

Things have got much better in recent years with sf and terra (and retirement of rgdal rgeos and maptools). gdistance for least costs paths etc still use sp and raster instead of sf and terra though which is not ideal. Some stuff in tmieno2.github.io/R-as-GIS-for...
