Busy days with Tawny Owl chicks around Glasgow! 🦉

On average, Tawny Owls lay 2-3 eggs and incubation lasts 28-30 days. Chicks will then fledge around 35-38 days old.

More Tawnies on eggs in our nestboxes around Glasgow! 🦉

Tawny Owls are forest owls, but they also occur in urban parks. They nest in tree cavities, but they can also readily use nestboxes for this purpose, especially when tree cavities are not available.

It's spring again and Tawny Owls have started breeding in Glasgow! 🦉

The first adult owls of the season have been captured, ringed and tagged with biologgers, aiming to understand how they cope with roads, light & noise pollution in the urban environment.
