Predictions for a messy 2026 :
- Trump dies
- the AI bubble bursts and triggers a massive economical crisis

When switching to a new iPhone, you can tell there's extensive effort from Apple to ensure you don't lose any data in the process. In contrast, WhatsApp doesn't care at all that you're likely to lose messages if your last backup isn't recent enough.

I hadn't logged on Discord in years (last time was in 2019 on the Vapor discord to get some help) and boy did the enshittification exploded since then 😕. The UI is an agressive mess that looks like a video game, pop-ups about stuff I couldn't care less about, and attention-grabbing animations.

Je me demande quelle est la logique derrière le fait que le kWh de gaz est 2x moins cher que le kWh d'électricité (chez Engie) 🤔.

Slack is still not able to provide a proper scroll experience that doesn't randomly jump around while scrolling (because of lazy-loading I guess).

Damn I totally forgot about my October challenge on my Apple Watch. Ah well.

Tron Ares is getting panned (unsurprisingly), but people seem to think Tron Legacy was a good movie, and that's a bit surprising. Special effects and music were great, but he story was pretty bad and missed the whole vibe of the original . #tronares #tron #tronlegacy

Looking at the reactions of long-time Apple devs at the start of today's #AppleEvent, I don't recall ever seeing them so unanimously pissed at Apple (mostly because of LiquidGlass I think).

There doesn't seem to be any macOS/iPad app devoted to derushing photos, that is just sorting through photos and selecting/rejecting them (what you d after a shoot, before any further editing). Anyone ? #photography

Finally installed iOS 26 beta and macOS 26 beta on my main devices and I have to say I really like the look of Liquid Glass. There are still many things to tweak but it's pretty nice to use and look at. #macos26 #ios26.

Back after 2 weeks in Montreal and Quebec with my wife and daughter. Quite fun overall (we slept once in a yurt and then saw whales 😊). And this evening, a "Mediterranean episode", aka sudden torrential rain flooding the streets, the third time this year I think. Fun way to return home.

2 I see she’s going with a cultural defense. On the one hand, she did put the money in a red envelope, which would be culturally appropriate for some gifts. On the other hand I understand such gifts are typically given on holidays and special occasions…..

This "offering" from Tim Cook is hopefully more politically motivated than anything else, but it's still pathetic. I wonder how Jobs would have handled Trump.

Is it normal for a LaCie 2big dock to take several days to rebuild its RAID 1 array following the replacement of a failed disk ?
July 17, 2025 at 7:41 AM
As one of the HDs of my LaCie 2Big dock has failed, I swapped it with another one. It's configured in RAID 1, so it's rebuilding the array, but it's taking ages to do so. It barely reached 11% in 24h. I'd be quicker just copying the data elsewhere and reconfiguring a new array from scratch.

It seems a very common criticism against Liquid Glass is that it's distracting from content even though it's supposed to highlight it. I think it's possible it appears so because for now it's still brand new and therefore very noticeable. We'll have to reevaluate that a few months after the […]

I've been pondering on upgrading my dear old 27" 2017 iMac for quite a while now, and just this morning it forced my hand through its main hard drive failing. I fortunately didn't lose any data thanks to Backblaze and Time Machine, but it's still darn annoying.
