I think that boat has sailed (with Captain Kelly on-board!). He is so obviously made of the ‘right stuff’ to bring the US back from the brink of fascism, corruption and ridicule, that I cannot imagine the Dems selecting anyone else.

We should allow for the relative populations. USA has 13 times the population of Australia. However, even taking that into account, the deaths in Australia are less than 1/10th that in USA.

I see your (unsaid) point. What I meant was that hatred of groups in society (such as muslims, gays or scientists) is both irrational and unacceptable.

Antisemites are not welcome here. Nor anyone with an irrational hatred of *any* group (muslim, transgender, black, scientist.. any). Antizionists - in the sense of people peacefully opposing extremist actions by, or in support of, an Israeli state - should be warmly welcomed. Not the same at all.

But in terms of mass shootings and terrorist acts .... my question was what % were non-theists vs the % in the population as a whole. The non-theist ranks may well be full of bad people (also) but are they driven to the extremism that results in mass murder? I doubt it, but would like to see stats

Come on ..... no-one can tell the diffrence between, for example, 4°C and 5°C or 29°C and 30°C. Or if you can, is it really that important? Do you choose your clothes to leave the house based on a 1°F variation in the weather forecast?

And, I believe, was shot twice by another shooter. A real hero, who likely saved many lives that day. Muslims are not the problem, it is just adherance to one of many faiths around the World. The problem is extremism - Jewish, Christian, Muslim or othrer. Evil people exist in all faiths.

When you see how fast indoctrination in schools distorts the minds of the younger generation .... have a thought for the poor school kids in Putin's new Russia. Whilst MAGA breeds new homophobes and racists, Putin is breeding a new army of west-haters.

Not so sure. Achieving parity is one thing .... because you can build on the published knowledge base of how it is done *and* you 'know that it can be done' (which avoids wasted effort on dead ends). Going further requires solving all new problems ... for that the west is just as well equiped.
