As one of the first 10% of ChatGPT users (and one of the top 15% of messages initiated this year), at 78 I am still true to form: a change-friendly early-adopter. I have since childhood consistently looked for better ways to do things and to think about life. I’ve never been a fan of tradition…

Did you see it?
The big, beautiful full Beaver SuperMoon setting over the Rocky Mountains. The snowcapped peaks of the Continental Divide are in the James Peak Wilderness Area.

Good Morning Full Beaver Super Moon!
Today’s Moonset over the Rocky Mountain Front Range shows the largest appearing moon of the year. The blue-to-pink color gradient in the sky is called “the twilight wedge.” The deep blue below the moon is actually the Earth’s shadow on the atmosphere! #FullMoon

Comet C/2025 R2 (Swan) becomes briefly available after sunset in Northern latitudes of 40+ IF no clouds, trees, hills or buildings obscure a clear distant horizon a little south of the sun’s last glow.
Here it shows up a fuzzy blue glow, with a very faint tail, in contrast to the sharp, round stars.

What a “Superior” sunset; this stopped us in our tracks last night as we drove the Lake Superior South Shore between Apostle Islands and Superior.

The Omega Nebula, also known as M17, is a massive star-forming region in the Sagittarius constellation, 5,500 light-years from Earth. I photographed this from the shores of Lake Michigan at Indiana Dunes:

The Triangulum Galaxy is 61,100 light-years across, the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, behind the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way. It is one of the most distant permanent objects (2.7 Million light-years away from Earth) that can be viewed with the naked eye.

My first award-winning photo, with a $25 Exacta film camera; San Antonio, 1970, my own darkroom work. I love the contrasts, light/dark, youthful innocence/sage experience with adversity & resilience, protection/freedom, well-developed individual character/just-emerging selfhood.

As the earth tilts back away from Summer Solstice Orion and the Horsehead Nebula are coming back into view in the pre-dawn hours

Pliades early this morning; the moon passed right through this amazing constellation last night, but clouds obscured that event from my view.

Jupiter and Venus, hanging out together as Morning Stars right now. If you missed it in this morning’s predawn try tomorrow. Even with good binoculars you can see some of Jupiter’s moons (4 or 5 visible here)

I am oh-so-thankful for the good breeze that is bending branches and rustling these prairie grasses. It’s heating up fast today, on the way to near 100°; right now the breeze maintains a comfort zone!
