I was delighted to accept the King Charles III Coronation Medal for my lab's research & advocacy for women's heart health.🫀💃🏻

We appreciate the support of IMPART at @dalhousie.bsky.social & @womensresearch.bsky.social, & were grateful to be nominated by the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Back to the lab after a week at Dalhousie University, connecting & reconnecting with researchers & collaborators, & talking about women's health.

The biggest threat to women's heart health is a lack of knowledge, of their biology & their risks.

@heartandstroke.bsky.social has supported women's health research & now they have a tool that empowers women to gain the knowledge to understand their risks.

Martin Kulldorff says these mistakes are because they are rookies.

I say it's because they are ignorant grifters with little to no understanding of science.

To-may-to, to-mah-to. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That's more confusing because I thought this was for post-heart attack. It is my understanding that for hypertension CCB>BB.
glenpyle.bsky.social
There could be concerns about drug interactions or co-morbidities, but the fact that you didn't mention any discussion of those concerns suggests that wasn't an issue.

Did they say why they thought BB was the choice for you if they think CCB are better?

These differences likely mean that therapies are not equally effective across all groups.

But I say "likely'. The bottomline is the data are not there to make informed decisions about treatment options when it comes to race or cultural groups.
glenpyle.bsky.social
We do know that like sex differences, applying guidelines across all racial or cultural groups is not appropriate. BMI is a great example where common standards do not apply in Asian populations.

But there are some interesting exceptions: for example, Hispanic women have higher rates of diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome, & yet CVD mortality is ~20% lower than in non-Hispanic White women.
