The thing about assumptions...they aren't subject to empirical scrutiny, and you never know when you're wrong. BTW, neither the vaunted _rule of law_, nor protests (parades) was what changed Britain's relationship with American colonists, or Marie Antoinette's relationship to commoners.

Very limited power since we live in an oligarchy and all politicians basically serve the rich. Right? And don't say something stupid like "we have to regulate money in politics more" or whatever because the politicians - owned by the rich (remember?) - don't want you to.
