Also most of the endangered ones are solitary, non- or barely- stingy ones. Apis mellifera is actually doing quite well, I had to put up with angry bee wars in August when a third colony moved in locally and then they all started fighting.

We should adopt Orthodox Christmas instead of continuing with the presumably unorthodox one. It finishes on 6th January, by which time the evenings have already drawn out by 17 minutes from the mid December earliest sunset (it's staggered against day length by the analemma). It's all in this graph.

Best thing I've done this year is this plasticol corrugated sheet under new bificial solar panels hack. Half a tonne lighter and 400 odd tiles cheaper.
