I know I mentioned "thing" which can apply to media and such but this post is specfically about people. This is about celebrities. This is about popular creators. This is about people.
I'm starting to fully understand why some people try to separate stans from fans. Some least some fans are actually sensible and can admit when they're favorite thing/person isn't that good (HEAVY ON PERSON.) Stans are just... oh boy.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard a POC English VA was boo'd off of twitter because they said something regrading race within the VA profession/industry, I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's unfortunate that it happened twice.

I got twitter for news and info and expected a lot of bs but honestly this shit was a lot more than I truly expected. And it's always the niggas with the blue checkmarks.

Everytime that thread I made literally yesterday gets any traction/notifcations I feel a tad bit of fear of being jumped because I have no clue how half of this site handles discussions of political subjects in fandom, especially racism.

Please note that this does not mean I like this person, because I HEAVILY dislike incest. I do however, respect that fact that they they are using their voice to speak about the rampant racism in fandom, even speaking up against people they they would align with but hate them because they do.
Someone who I consider one of the biggest advocates against racism in fandom, who also happens to be an incest-shipper, who can fall under "proshipper" in many's eyes, has documented how some will claim that you're an "anti-shipper" for multiple reasons. It's not just harrassment and censorship.

Shit like this is why I started @blackfandom.bsky.social / blackfandom.tumblr.com. It was so POC, specfically black people in fandom, could have a voice and discuss issues of racism without the fear of being dismissed or ignored, Something that has become more common, unfortnately.
While, as of now, I myself have not been a victim of this, I have heard some cases from my fellow POC queers about stuff like this. I have even seen if for myself via screenshots, tumblr asks answers by POC I follow or see, etc. It's not pleasant.
