Just a reminder that there are plug-ins and extensions that, over the next few days (or years), you can use with your browser to replace certain words with words that you prefer. I use Word Replacer Max. Here is an example of it at work. #Orangefacedshitgibbon
By using Word Replacer Max (Firefox extension) to replace a certain loathsome word, I have made the internet a much nicer read - for me at least.

The total expense from the government far exceeded an arts grant that he (can't remember the author) likely would not have got anyway, plus 3 squares / day, roof, boredom enough to focus, and an endless supply of characters and stories. Probably not recommended, but there's some logic there.

It's probably wrong to, but I wish flash dumps upon all of the these goons.

It sort of goes beyond that, no? "We're gonna make it *illegal* for you and your community to enforce these province-wide highway traffic laws because me and my grease balls gotta speed"

I also remember hearing an interview with a Canadian author who had been sentenced for drug trafficking and wrote his first novel in prison. Said he was grateful for his time as it was WAY better than any Canada Council for the Arts grant. He had a point.

When I lived in Ireland, artists didn't pay any income tax.

If you're just starting out as an artist in Germany, the government buys some of your work as an investment (you never know who becomes valuable), and to help you get up on your feet.

Not being able to name one is by design. They're supposed to keep a low profile. Theirs is the word of law, not a person or personality.

Sigh, if only there were a greasy-back-room equivalent to speed or red light cameras.

Here, where we have few constraints, it's only sacred bcs you *could* build a ton of $$ houses. It's so much easier (and lazier) to just go build out in that field at the end of the road, make $ and move on, than it is figure out how to make something work within a seemingly arbitrary constraint.

There's a design adage that says good constraints make for good solutions. Same goes, I think, for urban planning. In "compact" places, agricultural land is practically sacred. It often butts right up to and into urban areas. I've seen them bailing the road-side vetches in NL.

The kids are gonna love putting these on the railways tracks.

Passing a massive project milestone on a picture perfect Friday morning calls for a celebratory cappuccino and sausage role. Today is a good day.

Wait till y'all find out about the body donation programs conveniently located next to prisons.

How did they - as in the driver or the vehicle - even survive this to continue the chase?! This is bananas.

Everyone, loses it all. Guaranteed. Even if he doesn't happen to stumble between the edge of a roof top or open window and another pissed off Russian, he has what, maximum 10yrs left to live? All these old, greedy men.
gloomen.bsky.social
He'll drag an entire continent, possibly a world, into an unwinnable war that will annihilate the last 70 years of collective human progress just so he can keep his bag of ill-gotten money and power.

Oooh, you're gonna like it!

Also, the little funicular to the Superga!

Lol, medbeds. I'm spending my weekend finishing the small mountain of regulatory/compliance documentation for what is, in effect, a medical garbage can meant for the ICU, and then there's this fantasy device meant to cure us, peddled by people who can't even get behind a vaccine.

Other than the women or 7's, there hasn't been much to put them on the international radar for about 25yrs. But this is definitely inspiring, the womens speed and proficiency is fascinating and so much fun to watch. An excellent antidote to slow grindy rugby. Bravo 👏

Unfortunately, Doug is uninterested in making things more freaky / difficult for drivers. Roundabouts really are a benefit for driving and keeping traffic flowing - not a a bad thing - but they're best when coupled with lower speed limits. Slower is faster as long as traffic moves.

I may need to up my snark game 😉. The only thing that actually works is road design. You have a big, multi-lane, straight roads, drivers think "go fast". Narrow it, constrict it, change the texture, add human context, and freak drivers out and they slow right down. Hans Monderman was always right.

Signs will definitely stop speeding.

I almost can't even watch these. I mean, it's not like he creates them, but they are usually just so stunningly...I don't even have words...yeah, "bananas". "Bananas" is all there is.
