Made a lot of progress over the last week. Got basic combat up and running, but most of that time was spent on the gameplay effects system, that allows healing potion, poisons, or other effects to be applied to a character. #gamedev #godot

Some more refactoring, and finally got basic combat and dialogue working. Making pretty good progress! #GameDev #Godot

Cleaned up and streamlined my actor and player code to remove a lot of redundant code, and got interactions and scene loading working. I also implemented smooth movement, but I'm not sure I'll keep it. Maybe I'll make it a toggle in the settings menu. #gamedev #godot

And now I've gotten a basic player setup, and now actors can move while respecting the grid, collisions, and other actors.

For example, collision is drawn on its own Collision Layer tilemap, which each tile having a defined custom data type determining the type of collision it will add to the Collision grid. Currently there's Walkable, Blocked, Flyable, and Swimmable.

Been slowly turning my mockup into an actual functional prototype in Godot. Got the start of the Grid Manager created today, which handles populating collision and actor arrays that were drawn in a scene in tilemaps. Works better than I had hoped.

Trying out the "Oh no, more goblins!" tileset by @mrmotarius.bsky.social for a small Godot project, so far I'm really liking it. Need to experiment more with the shapes, but I like what I see.

She needs constant physical contact, especially while chewing on her toys, so here she is standing on my chest.

How is this better than print to demand again?
