There is so much more to say about Martin, including bar complaints that went nowhere (we are looking at you - DC and Missouri Bars). But it's waaaaay more than we can fit in a Bluesky thread. Why don’t you give it a read yourself?

As an Interim United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, Martin focused heavily on punishing prosecutors who worked on J6 riot cases. He demoted or fired a number of J6 career prosecutors.

Martin explicitly threatened to investigate certain officials, and “shame" them publicly if the investigation yielded no criminal charges. If that's not bad enough on its own, you might be interested to know that...

Martin also signed the motion to dismiss another J6-related indictment against another J6 rioter, Joseph Padilla. At the time Martin, as AUSA, moved to dismiss Padilla’s indictment, Martin was also Padilla’s defense counsel, court records show. Seems a bit conflict-ish to us.

Hale-Cusanelli was convicted for his role in J6 and received a 4 year prison sentence.
But as an Interim United States Attorney, Martin signed the motion to dismiss the J6-related indictment against Hale-Cusanelli, following Trump’s mass pardon of J6 rioters in January 2025.

Ed, however, was less than forthcoming about his relationship with Hale-Cusanelli a few months later. In a written congressional testimony, Martin told Congress he was “not close to him”, and only recently became aware of Hale-Cusanelli's views.
Sure, Ed. We believe you.
Trump nominee gives misleading testimony about ties to alleged 'Nazi sympathizer'
Ed Martin, President Trump's pick for U.S. attorney for D.C., is distancing himself from a Jan. 6 rioter known for antisemitic views. NPR's reporting raises questions about his ties to the rioter.

Here are a few highlights about Ed:
Martin referred to a known Nazi-Sympathizer and a J6 rioter, Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, as an "amazing guy" and "a great friend”. Martin even presented Timothy with an award at a Trump Golf Club. This is Timothy in the picture , BTW. He seems nice.

4/6 The Database tracks seven categories of misconduct, but also celebrates "Defenders of the Rule of Law": government lawyers who show legal courage and integrity, refusing pressure from superiors to make arguments unsupported by fact or law.

3/6 GLOW fills that gap. With The Government Lawyers Database, we create accountability through transparency. There is now a searchable record documenting government attorneys' behavior.
