He died at the hospital from critical injuries sustained during repeated Russian bombardment of Kyiv. Doctors tried to save Oleksandr's life for 18 days.

He is survived by his wife and two young sons.

On Jan. 9, Zibrov and his fellow firefighters came under a repeated Russian strike in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. He suffered severe injuries while protecting civilians despite the extreme danger.
