It’s not a great look for any government that they can say “We’re going to stop enforcing this law” and people will ask “Why, which cabinet ministers keep breaking it?”

It doesn’t play. Just takes me to some dumb ad. I tried like ten times.

Who’s got a dodgy link to the Jays game. I can’t find one.

Jays pitcher Little and Leafs forward Matthews is a great reminder to journalists and editors to never assume the spelling of a name, even if it sounds familiar.

Everybody get to the Bronx, they got a surplus of GRAPEFRUITS!

This bandwagon rolled by and I jumped on it and it’s honestly a pretty cool wagon.

My weirdest, most pretentious flex is my phone autocorrects “back” to “Bach.” I guess I talk enough about baroque composers I broke my phone.

You.

Police.

It’s a core First Amendment principle. This is utterly lawless behavior, for which there will be no (short-term) consequences.

That he does it so casually, as they are walking away, in front of cameras.

Rightly confident in his impunity.
“[t]he freedom of individuals verbally to oppose or challenge police action without thereby risking arrest is one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free nation from a police state.”

Can we just admit we don’t care about our privacy, even when we should, and get rid of those website pop ups? Does anyone ever not just click “accept” so they can get on with what they came for?

The lyrics are insane. You should go all in and straight up sing it to yourself.

I almost posted something I should really pitch as a short piece and deleted it. You all proud of me?

No, I appreciate it. I shouldn’t have spoken so declaratively when I didn’t read a lot of Punisher for all the reasons Scott said. I was an X-Men/Batman guy. And even my knowledge of those isn’t exhaustive.

I liked what they did with him on Netflix, putting him against the military, private militias, and the US government. But it was definitely a departure from the comics.

With Brad Bradford officially declaring his intention to run for mayor (after using his council position to unofficially campaign for the past two years), it’s important to remember even he doesn’t believe what he’s saying (his voting record shows), so we shouldn’t either. Pure, cynical opportunism.

I’ve started Silksong. I love dipping back into that world, it’s just immersive. I’m already in love with it.

This is all very cool. I had no idea.

So much of what’s wrong at the present moment can be explained by the below-outlined dynamic.

Climate change; “creeping” authoritarianism; COVID as a slow-moving, disabling event; road deaths — all of these are ignored because they, somehow, by their “slow” movement, fail to shock the conscience.

In a statement, Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca pivoted from speed cameras to violent crime, suggesting we should spend more time focussing on the latter. That’s illuminating. Vehicles obviously present the bigger statistical threat, especially to children. But we accept those injuries and deaths.

Slow vs fast, and passive vs active. The result in both is still death, but we’re not concerned with the slow and passive.
