Roll for initiative.....

Love all things TTRPG & boardgame. Husband. Father. He/Him
I went in for the $299 LE level and added the $165 full book add on. Then to feel fiscally responsible I set it to split into 4 payments lol

I don't want to yuck anyone's yum, if others like the marvel set that is great for them.

I'm entirely uninterested and uninspired by them. I'm very pumped for Lorwyn, Strixhaven, and Hobbit. The rest....... meh, a chance to save money

The cancelled tv show you'll never stop thinking about.
a man wearing a hat with the words time for some thrilling heroics on the bottom
Alt: Jayne from Firefly saying time for some thrilling heroics on the bottom from the episode Train Job

You shouldn't let that negative self talk control you. Follow your heart.

Plus money exists to be spent. By not buying the Cthrion Edition, you would be preventing money from fulfilling its purpose. Could you really live with that?

I committed to spending far too much money right after Christmas on this. I'm very excited for it.

I like Shadowdark, it's fun for a quick and dirty dungeon crawl. It's not a system I'd want more than that though. Whereas, I'd happily play a full Draw Steel campaign.

So I think I agree with your assessment.

Im not trying to disparage SD. I like it, but it scratches a very different itch

I mean, it's only like -5C. It's not too bad right now, nothing a warm cost and hot coffee can't fix 🙂

Rick is absolutely a solid choice.

Aragorn was my immediate reaction to the prompt and that felt important. There are a lot of incredible positive male role models out there though.

That is my expectation as well. I'm also not everyone else was as enamoured with it as I was.

I really felt it simplified things.

Drop some hints!
Will the campaign book be split so the encounters are in their own book? I love the way Delian Tomb was structured. It was VERY director friendly.

I'm hoping to see a players guide/primer as well.

When I prepare to run something. I like jotting out the loose highlights I anticipate in a game. I like to plot out approximately when players generally learn key pieces of information.

This book starts with "Story So Far/Kicking Things Off" blurbs which I love. I'd probably follow with a summary

You can really feel the thought that went into this. It really is designed to get the Director and players comfortable with the system.

The only thing I'd have liked near the front is a brief description or graphic showing the adventure path. This is more a me thing than something it lacks

The other key piece is the actual adventure book. I really like this book. The art is excellent and the layout works for me.

It really holds you hand on getting stuff up and running. Gives you bits to read, references maps and where to look for encounter stuff.

It is really streamlined.

The encounter book is supplemented by encounter sheets. These lay out malice features, success & failure conditions, the baddie roster with key stats.
It makes it really clear how to run encounters, montages, and negotiations.

As a chronic overpreparer, I love this

I've started poking through it and the first thing that stands out to me is how stuff is separated.

You have the encounter booklet which lays out the map and positions, stat blocks per encounter, tactics, objectives, how to adjust by party size, etc. It really covers the bases
