I'm a teacher, I love history, I wish we would learn more from it. Travelling is the best part of living. My boys love baseball so I guess I do too! My opinions are mine and mine alone, such as they are.
I don’t live in Ontario, but I’d love to live there. Of course I might need a couple million first, so 🤷‍♂️. Nice pictures though.

@paulisci.bsky.social Are you still collecting headlines? This is the third crazy one I’ve seen today…

The last time he went I learned the word cockwomble. Thank you for your service Scots.

Seems more like “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” Something like that. 🤔

43 years ago I was awoken out of a dead sleep by an air raid siren. It is unforgettable. I think the technology has existed for some time.

Wait until you visit Roundhill.

When I was much (MUCH) younger I had a book filled with anecdotes. One of those was how a guy’s English family came to visit him in France and complained loudly that they didn’t speak French, etc. etc. As a younger person I thought that mostly a joke, as I’ve aged I’ve realized it’s not…

Fact: Lorne is impossible to take seriously.

Fantastic series, great episode, the second season was a bit slower, but the pay off was worth it.

Also a doughnut chain, weren’t they both owned in whole by American companies at that time?

Well it worked out well for Homer, so I don’t see a problem.

Oh, that’s a hell of a podcast (as a Canadian), and yes history, does indeed rhyme hard. Fantastically interesting, going to use at least part of it in my upcoming summer class.

So many memories. Woodward’s was my favourite as a kid, but it was hard to beat the joy of Consumers Distributing - hand over a slip of paper, watch the person disappear and reemerge with your treasure.

Just jumped into my mind for no apparent reason.

In a modern world of LED signs how is this even a problem. Make the signs programmable and swap them with a background as needed. Seems to me a way to charge the production companies small or big fee. You could even have the sign say Hollywood, same number of letters.

When I was a kid I used to ride my uncle so hard for supporting the Leafs. He’s passed away recently and I now regret that he never had the opportunity to enjoy their success once more in his life. He was a great uncle to put up with me and him being able to ride me once, would have been fine!

The Toronto Ashes, would sound appropriate as they burst into flames regularly.

Pretty sure that was used to justify McSorely removing some guy’s (Neil Sheehy?) spleen back in the day. Stupid argument.

I understand old Cleveland just used to float around in the sky in the statue. It was in all the papers at the time, that it isn’t now is because of the ‘statues are actually heavy’ conspiracy.

Guy probably sees himself as Robert Redford running for the bridge. Guess we are envious of that. 🤷‍♂️

Strikes me this is how the Leafs execute the ultimate Leaf move, giving hope only to rip it away again. Olé!

Are we really sure two engines are better than one? A couple two engine planes committed ritual suicide by jumping off the deck of an aircraft carrier.

Fascinating tale, never heard of that, I’m sure it helped amp up his underlying paranoia.

Dazzle camouflage in the home - seems like a Second World War magazine article.
