I think at least part of it is that ugarte is put on when Amorim wants to protect a lead. So we often remove a 9 and the intensity drops. The fact that they concede so often in that position shows ugarte is not helping but he’s not solely at fault either.

I thought the same.

This might be a peek at the 2 10s with no 9 that you were suggesting a few weeks back, no? Obviously mbuemo just getting his first minutes, but it looks ok so far.

I will second “hopeful.” I am CAUTIOUSLY optimistic.

To me, Maguire seems less exposed with 3 in the back than he did in ETH’s system. But you are right that we need improvement everywhere.

I think the question is: could ugarte and mainoo survive as a midfield duo in Amorim’s system? I would like to see if it works.

And this is in no way a dig at Amad who has been great. I am just confused as to what we are looking for. Looking at just the 10s Mount, Amad, Garnacho, Bruno, they all seem so different.

I meant yoro, obviously

Between maguire, Martinez, York, heaven, I feel the 3 in the back are sorted. Beyond that I am not sure. There are good players but do they fit what Amorim wants. When they talk about keeping Amad and dropping garnacho and mainoo, I want to know what skill set they are talking about.
