... And sporting traditionally being a matter of nationalistic pride meaning that the message reaches people who would otherwise be unlikely to hear it.

If you want to complain about the actual present olympics organization, you have my blessing, but something like it probably should exist.
February 7, 2026 at 8:58 PM
As a minor defense for them though, despite how insincere it is, the message of global unity that the olympics necessarily promotes is still a good thing for the world, I think. Because there are less organizations which necessarily stand for that ideal than you'd think...

Since I agree to the main thrust of this message, I just want to add on, to cover it's flank, that since Russia finally has some significant internal dissent, and since they're finally basically out of tanks, the peace talks might get somewhere.
But it wouldn't be due to Trump or Putin's intentions.

Yeah.

If they want to arrest Clinton for not making moves against Trump and Epstein based on their roles in the files, I suspect that that would be a morally sound judgement from them. A rarity. And therefore one I'd fully support.
February 5, 2026 at 2:42 PM
Trump's role in the files is way worse, but Bill Clinton does clearly have a lot to answer for here too. Not so much for how many times he's mentioned, but for the fact that he clearly knew about a lot here, while he was president, and yet didn't actually do anything about it.

Phrasing it like I am sounds ridiculous, but it's accurate. And it isn't downplaying things and making Schumer seem more sensible here than he is.
January 30, 2026 at 6:53 AM
Phrasing it like this makes it seem like Schumer is taking a moderate position here.

*ICE, whose purpose is antithetical to the constitution, does two of the most high profile government murders in about 50 years, within the span of less than 2 weeks, with no pushback from their administration*
January 30, 2026 at 6:51 AM
Bernie is doing politics the objectively correct way, as intended by the constitution. We wouldn't have any crisis in the country at all if everyone did politics like him.

January 30, 2026 at 5:16 AM
Guys like Schumer make it politically advantageous for republicans to cause chaos in this country, since if you put an even worse problem in from of him, you can make guys like Schumer vote for anything.

You just say, "vote for this and I'll not vote for that way worse thing later".
(4/5)
January 30, 2026 at 5:16 AM
And how well have their political games been working, exactly, when our country as a whole has been on a downslide politically for the past 40+ years, due to these backdoor shenanigans?

January 30, 2026 at 5:15 AM
Guys like Schumer need to constantly shame themselves, and betray their voter bases on the more "Insignificant issues" in order to accomplish what they do. "Insignificant issues" which, in times of crisis like these, include personally funding the American Gastapo.

January 30, 2026 at 5:14 AM
Bernie is someone who had always, without fail, voted in favor of the american people without compromise. Look through his record.

In modern political games, you don't do that, because doing that isn't a good way to build quid pro quo with the sellouts and form coalitions from that. (1/5)

If might return to something they might recognize as normal if they resist what it's becoming with decisive action against the current US federal government.

Im still hopeful for that.

Just keeping their position and waiting, though, is a hopeless strategy at this point.
January 28, 2026 at 5:04 PM
The supreme court deciding to do something here because they think that not doing something is a bad idea for the longterm MAGA agenda IS POSSIBLE.

Not particularly likely, but democrats should definitely try, if only to not normalize this behavior any further than it's already been normalized.

Plenty of science communicators very clearly misunderstood this point as well, and it was a popular enough myth that human observation had some inherent special power that it's featured very very prominently in recent science fiction as well.

Churchill and Hitler are fundamentally incomparable to a similar degree as Gavin Newsom and Trump, or you and someone like Joe Rogan. Both awful, but one of them way less so, and made good by virtue of their opposition to the the bigger problem.

Do you mean what's referred to here?
Because if you do, my comments on that are pretty similar to the comments on said thread as well.

I've lost a lot of faith in the good sense of americans recently. We really do have an exceptionally large population of the most vile people on the planet. People who delight in the idea of evil, even if most of it is all done against them.

Thus, I suspect that he'd actually get about 8% still.
January 12, 2026 at 4:28 AM
Trump regularly does things that anger me way more than anything that's likely on the Epstein files, but we should talk about the Epstein files anyway, because republicans care about the "deep state", and if they saw the epstein files, there would no room for doubt: the Deep State is Trump!
January 10, 2026 at 11:23 PM
The good news is, that one of the last non-hyper-capitalist good things that Trump had going for him is that he didn't *technically* drag the US into any wars.

If that changes, I expect for about another 20% of his base to wake up to what a piece of shit he is, at least.
January 3, 2026 at 10:33 AM
From what I understand, the most we can really hope for is enough of congress and the senate flipping to make for a successful Trump Impeachment.

Just fragrantly breaching international law wouldn't be enough though. This would have turn into a prolonged war or occupation for that to happen.

They're desperate for popularity and were willing to pay her enormous amounts of money stolen from the government to do the interview, so that they would have an easy and shallow way to appear more "Hip"?

It's hypocritical for the conservatives, but also a really bad look for Nicki Minaj to accept.

If you really have the qualities that fools call "Alpha", then chances are, you also have the common wisdom to not try fooling people with cults of personality.

The only thing to take seriously from Red Pill types is the serious harm they do to people's perception of reality.

It's because genuine strength (both physical and of moral character) is far more common, ordinary and overlooked than the level of self-delusion that you need to be one of the above mentioned characters.
