Deforestation might help this bird expanding into areas that would otherwise be suboptimal. But habitat loss and pesticides may cause decline in population. Notably, boa constrictors are are natural predators.

They mainly use two capturing methods: the 🛬 wallop (landing on prey on the ground) or the 🧹 sweep (fly-by and grabbing the prey with one foot).
They can also take advantage of human activities that injure animals.

They hunt during any time of the day, except in severe weather conditions, but prefer evening into darkness 🌌 and early mornings 🌅 when hunting.

They also rely on high densities of small mammals such as lemming or voles during the breeding season. They can also eat carrion of walrus, seal, fox, fish and dead animals caught in traps. They may even scavenge Polar bear kills.
