Republicans have been telling us for years that government is the enemy. They didn’t tell us that was their plan.

It’s taking a while to reframe in mind that the government is now corrupt.

Make america backward by “unschooling” your kids. Let them indulge their love of making wagon wheels as they learn how to sharpen scissors. They can build water troughs to learn how water runs downhill. Prepare your children for the coming past. It was great then and it will be great again.

Presidential executive orders have no legal standing. They are administrative direction to those departments comprising the executive branch of the federal government. If you do not report to the president in a work role, you are under no obligation to respond or in any way comply.

An ideology is a narrative about how the world works and how it should work. This can be the social world or the natural world. It prescribes how we should think, how we should act and interact with other people, and it condemns deviation from its prescribed rules.

Can ideology ever be good for us?

We know Republican voters might wish to wake up and vote their interests (though largely they don’t). What is surprising is that Republican office holders, who are supposed to be politically astute, all seem to be asleep.

If I am mercurial and keep changing my negotiating positions, the best I can get is a swap. No one will want to develop a relationship with me.

Life is the ocean of possibility; swaying kelp, strands of what must be earnestly believed, competing for attention; shifting sand beneath the waves moving slowly as does our common perceived reality; rocks and sharp coral avoided as best we are able, us fish in the sea. Relax, all is well.

Now We Know

Our country is over you know
The one we thought we had

Our slave and racist past

But now we find ourselves unclothed
For all the world to see.
And it’s all over us again
At last, at last, at last.
