Up in the garden, down in the dirt with my two boys. Atlanta-based, human being-focused.
Set up a second garden bed plus low tunnels for that winter into spring harvest. Carrots, beets, kale, gai lan, green onions and shallots in the ground. Broadcast lettuce in the bare spots and we’ll see what happens. 🌱#lazyandcheap #gardensky #southerngarden #georgiagardener

I know this is a summer beer but the minivan dashboard says it’s 65 degrees and my baby is napping.

While disassembling an old garden bed (nee sandbox) with my toddler we discovered a whole group of brumating green anoles. We carefully covered them with leaves and then I recalculated my low tunnel construction project to avoid disturbing them. Sleepy lizards are adorable! And good pest control.

Our friends put on an annual English/European inspired Christmas celebration. Trying my hand at gluten free mincemeat pies. Homemade candied orange peel to start! So tingly on the palate.

With all my whining about groceries, we are still setting aside a portion of our grocery budget to help those struggling re: Republican party withholding SNAP benefits. To support farmers, we donated our co-op baskets of fresh produce. It feels like a drop in the bucket. So many people are hungry!

This week we are learning about severe weather and following the path of Hurricane Melissa. I am thinking back on our travels to Jamaica and all the people we met, hoping they can survive this terrible storm.

Don't mind me, just banging my head over our grocery budget again. I remember it wasn't that long ago that I was getting flak for my $1000 a month family of 4 with little kids grocery budget.

Y'all. I just can't get it under $1300 and that's only if I get 90% of our groceries from Aldi. #cawcaw

I did the thing! Looking forward to writing just for fun again.

I am hoping to post every Monday and Thursday (since I gotta get up anyway to sign up for those highly competitive 5am YMCA classes 🤦‍♀️).

Too much time frolicking in the Canadian wilderness. We're just catching up.

This season I'd love to start a little Wordpress blog to journal our homeschooling + get good at saying NO to all the kids activities. Hopefully, I'll get around to starting #spendful September this weekend too.

Vital thread about the terrorist attack on CDC 👇
A terrorist targeted federal workers last week. There wasn’t much reporting on it. But I’m not finished thinking about it! 🧵

An anti-vaxxer fired more than 500 gunshots into CDC Atlanta, shattering 150 “blast-proof” windows on 6 buildings. Employees were pinned down in terror.
