Robert's priorities 1. Supporting local businesses. Free training and mentoring for small businesses, help with public-sector tenders and digital skills - visit businesswaverley.co.uk for details. 2. Action on the environment. Godalming Town Council has cut its carbon footprint by 28% in six years and was shortlisted by the National Association of Local Councils for its climate response. We've introduced River Wey water-quality testing, backed No Mow May, and planted new wildflower areas. 3. Community events and local spirit. We brought back the Godalming Fireworks in Farncombe - a sell-out in 2023 and 2024 - at no cost to the Council. Our parks and public spaces are better maintained than ever thanks to the Town Council's own maintenance team. 4. Youth Services Restored. After years of cuts of Tory-run Surrey County Council, the Town Council stepped in. Our Broadwater Park Youth Service is providing after-school and evening sessions for dozens of young people every week. 5. Affordable homes that really are affordable. We've fixed the Government's broken definition by lowering "affordable" rents to 65-70% of the market rates locally - so local families can actually live here.

Did you know #Endometriosis affects between 10 and 20 percent of (mostly) women?

It is a common invisible illness and is thought to be a factor in infertility issues due to scarring left on organs such as the uterus or ovaries.

Endometriosis is a full body inflammatory disease. Though it is mostly known to affect the pelvic area, Endometriomas have been found attached to organs all over the body, including the brain and heart. Endometriosis pain can be more intense than a heart attack, appendicitis, kidney stones and childbirth. It can take up to 10 years for a person to be diagnosed as it is often misdiagnosed as other illnesses. Many who suffer from this feel like they have been dismissed by their health professionals and they deserve better. Until recently, Endometriosis was believed to be a "women's disease" but it has also been found in those born male - though in much smaller numbers.

Brilliant news for #Shalford, with thanks to Cllr Catherine Houston for letting us know.

Some of our more rural villages still remain in mobile signal dark spots with residents telling us that it can be difficult to reach emergency services.

You might have seen our post last month about hot water bottle safety 🧣 Hot water bottles are a longstanding, low-cost way to stay warm, but they typically have a lifespan of about two years. Do you know how to check when yours will expire? Here's a quick and easy way to find out: Look for the 'Flower Wheel' or 'Daisy Wheel' on the funnel or neck of your hot water bottle. This will show you the manufacturing date. How to Read It: - The number in the center of the wheel indicates the year it was made (e.g., ‘20’ means 2020). - The 12 petals around the wheel represent the months of the year. - The dots in each petal represent the weeks of that month. For example, 3 dots in the fifth petal means it was made in the third week of May. If your hot water bottle is more than two years old from the manufacturing date, it is at risk of leaking or bursting. For your safety, it's time to replace it!
