Go Down Moses
@godownmoses.bsky.social
I am a 6th generation Texan, a 5th generation Austinite, and a 4th generation Texas Longhorn who bleeds burnt orange and loves Faulkner, John Graves, Herefords, Blaze Foley, blue lacys, esoteric cheeses, strong coffee, working on my ranch, and whiskey.
And you think the sociopolitical definition is a 19-year-old having sex with a 17-year-old?

Statutory rape is not pedophilia. I responded to the point that you initially made, not the one you're making now.
November 10, 2025 at 8:37 PM
So he was an adulterer, not a pedophile.
November 10, 2025 at 8:36 PM
No he wasn't. Pedophilia is a disorder characterized by sexual interest in prepubescent children or attempts to engage in sexual acts with prepubescent children. When he was 19, Lefty was convicted of having sex with a 17-year-old who, according to his testimony, said she was 18.

So you're 86, got to live a long life, had 56 years of "bonus time," and want to deny others that which you had.

And unicorns and elves. Seriously ... "Our needs are bigger than a single person?" Who's going to vote for that? We absolutely need a Joe Rogan because our Joe Rogan could have reached the people needed to tip the scales in the election. We've got to reach the 20% of people who decide them.

Population reduction? If you want to off yourself, feel free to do so. But I'm guessing that you're not talking about cutting short your own life.

It still is a great city. I have a fantastic time every time I visit. It's just different --- and that's good. Get busy livin' or get busy dyin', as a wise philosopher once said.

People have to live somewhere. Not all of us can be agrarian farmers who live off the land like you do. Do you have a solution?

I remember when I was young and, without hesitation and to complete strangers, expressed certainty regarding things that are not only unknown but unknowable. Good times.

It was about the way you criticized the end of "another wretched brick cube," without taking anything other than your malformed aesthetic sensibilities into account. But Traces has been recognized by the state legislature and written about in newspapers and magazines, so he's fairly public.

As soon as I read @falo2.bsky.social 's comment I thought "uh, oh. Traces is about to deliver a beatdown." Thanks for not letting me down. The truth is that the Texas revolution was fought for many varied and nuanced reasons, including the fact that some of the newcomers just wanted a fight.

Truth has a way of cutting through the clutter!

Where do you think this Boeing jet was made?
May 15, 2025 at 4:49 AM
I use Team Viewer to fix "problems" with my 85 year old dad's computer at his house in Iowa. It's like sorcery to him. Half the time I just reboot the machine and that fixes it. On the other hand, he can take apart the carb on a 1954 Farm All tractor and fix it so that it runs like a deer.

Traces is a pretty public figure. Look him up.
May 6, 2025 at 6:26 AM
This is nonsense. The term "cowboy" originated in the British Isles in the 18th century, where it simply meant a boy who tended cows, similar to shepherd (for sheep) or goatherd (for goats). It has never been used exclusively for black men.
May 6, 2025 at 1:39 AM
That's pretty exciting. The world is building a better mousetrap. Even here in Texas, home to a giant fossil fuel industry, we're seeing days in which 70 percent of our electricity consumption is generated by renewables. It's inexorable.

Traces "empathizes" with lost traces of Texas. I'm surprised your tarot cards, or the handle "Traces of Texas," didn't tell you that.
April 7, 2025 at 12:07 PM
That looks like a place that used to be in Stamford, Texas.

KKK? Make assumptions much? Maybe he was black himself. Maybe he was Hispanic. Maybe he was just a poor, hardscrabble farmer trying to eke out a life on the edge of the Dust Bowl during the Great Depression. Also: a Democrat? He might have been a Republican. He might have been apolitical.
April 5, 2025 at 11:45 PM
Why do you say that?
April 4, 2025 at 3:40 PM
A lot of people have a lot of preconceived notions about things, Traces. After 14-15 years of doing Traces of Texas you should realize that.
