Because it's a very simple mistake that would lead to someone's entire vote getting thrown out when the date itself doesn't actually matter.

The US has a general homicide problem, compare your country's total homicides to our non-firearm homicides and you're see ours still dwarf yours. Even if we got rid of all of the guns, we wouldn't see much of a dip in murders. You're not treating the cause.

No, it was not an M-16. It was a PA-15 semi-automatic rifle, though yes it is banned in New York.
Also, don't use the phrase military grade, that really means it's crap, the civilian market has been better than what the military uses for hundreds of years.

Even then, more people are killed with pistols than any kind of rifle by a huge margin, so even if there were no rifles, that wouldn't even a dent in the number of shootings.
