For Israel, clinging to this failed model means choosing which of those disastrous futures to inhabit. The only escape from the cycle is a real political solution—either a two-state agreement or a single, secular democracy for all.

The lesson from Rwanda, Yugoslavia & Sri Lanka is that enforcing ethnic dominance has only two outcomes: total collapse, or a Pyrrhic "victory" built on war crimes and permanent instability.

Exclusionary states don't last. Colonial powers like the USA had to democratize. Others, like Yugoslavia, collapsed into war. Apartheid South Africa was forced to reform. And Sri Lanka persists only in a state of simmering conflict. The original model always breaks.

Fair, although have you guys seen mark warners speech. I think the slow drip drip of controversial/racist actions is a distraction. The normalisation of access for cash is unsettling.

Important but I think this is all a distraction. Slowly taking these actions to clog the news cycle.

Listen to mark warners speech about what’s been going on.

yep sounds about right. I held out hope for a bit too, but the things he says are just insane..

it's kind of nice to have something we all agree with as a country though.

feels like a movie with his mentality change in the last decade..

there are still federal and state laws against it though. Maybe it's for federal employees outside the united states in case Israel goes in that direction with gaza?
March 19, 2025 at 12:05 AM
yep definitely agree. Although trump was indicted for segregated housing so segregation can mean exclusion, as seems to be more a modern version of it.
March 19, 2025 at 12:03 AM
Hopefully some idiot will, it'd be an effective way to get trump to choose between his extremist and more business focused supporters. Their ability to say 'it wasn't a hitler salute' but winking at supporters who hope it was, unifies his coalition.

Trump and Elon can appear to a wider audience because their actions/dog whistles aren't explicit. Testing this with cases is a effective way to get them to explicitly state what they do or dont agree with.

Make them choose between right wing or mainstream supporters.

does feel like it. releasing gpt4.5 feels like they're really throwing everything out they can now most of their researchers have left.
The quality of the gpt and o models seems to have noticably worsened recently. o1's the only usable one left i found.

I was worried when they said monitoring chain of thought is one of the best defences.

If the model telling us it’s misaligned is our best defence then we really need some better safeguards.

Probably just excited to start

The extraction was qualitatively different too. Free-form responses included nuanced edge cases and more comprehensive source attribution compared to those with JSON output. If you need JSON a two-stage approach likely will yield better results.

I found this pattern holds across O1 Medium, O3 Mini Medium, and GPT-4o (but not sonnet thinking). The non-formatted outputs extracted twice as many distinct topics and provided more contextual information. GPT-4o's content tokens fell from 977 to 704 when constrained by format.
