Wildlife photos I shot on a recent hike in a local park. I love Great Blue Herons, and this guy just loved posing for us for the longest time! The red-bellied woodpecker was a lucky quick capture as it hopped up the tree trunk.

Got this lovely postcard today from a Postcrosser in Ukraine! It was mailed Dec. 7, and I'm just impressed it got here at all, let alone in 6 weeks. I hope the sender is still safe and sound. @postcrossing.com

New Year's to me means lots of board gaming. Had fun playing one from my collection, "Situation 4," an oldie but goodie jigsaw puzzle-based team game.

I love my public library's book sale!! 😍 I hit the mother lode! Found something in many of my favorite topics. (Plus some gifts, which I am NOT posting here) And those Making of Star Wars and Jedi books were quite the bargain, oh my! 😀

Finished my fall hiking spree! (Hike 8 trails in the local parks and you earn a shield for your hiking staff.) Saw a deer, a pretty painted rock, and a painted turtle (at nature center).

On my long relaxing pre-election weekend hiking getaway to the Hocking Hills, I also squeezed in visits to 3 libraries--and got 3 new library cards for my collection. I love seeing what program and display ideas I can pick up, and just to see different library architecture. Like a Mystery Shopper!

6 weeks later, I'm still receiving National Postcard Week postcards in the mail! This was mailed from Wisconsin MAY 6, arrived yesterday! Last week got a card, 5 wks later, that was sent from an hour's drive from my house! 😲 What is the deal with the USPS lately? I think the Pony Express was faster!

WOW!!!! Just finished reading #49MilesAlone ARC & I'm so impressed. Fantastic tense thriller; great outdoor survival story; wonderful depiction of a close friendship sorely tested & fractured but ultimately, healing. A terrific Girl Power book as well. Brava! Now I really want to visit Utah again.

Total Solar Eclipse 2024 in Fairlawn Ohio (Akron). Pinhole projections sign I made (each dot shows the halfway eclipse), & our glow in the dark eclipse shirts (taken in a dark room later, we had totality but not pitch black because of streetlights). #EclipseSolar2024

Total Solar Eclipse 2024 in Fairlawn Ohio (Akron). Pinhole projections sign I made (each dot shows the halfway eclipse), & our glow in the dark eclipse shirts (taken in a dark room later, we had totality but not pitch black because of streetlights). #EclipseSolar2024
