I also watched both Black Phone movies. The first one was a video game. The second one was a fever dream. Both worth watching if you haven’t already seen them.

I'm glad you had a better experience than I did. I didn't hate the film, it just had pacing issues. Even intercutting between the fights would have gone a long way. It didn't feel like I was watching a movie; it felt like I watched a season of anime on marathon mode without taking any breaks.

It's funny that you mean MyDuD. I tried to read the manga after watching the first season but stopped after the first volume because it was so faithful. I was like, "Damn, I guess I'll just watch the show."

This has been a problem with modern anime for some time now. No one is adapting for the anime version anymore. They're just using the manga as storyboards. A lot of people praise this because they want the anime version to remain faithful, but it often leads to problems with pacing.
