2026 is upon us and I cannot stress this enough--recommend authors to your local library if they don't carry books by that author. Libraries purchase both hc and digital copy. The authors get paid. This is why we need to fund the absolute shit out of libraries. Your tax money to buy BOOKS for YOU!

I found a shining light in 2025. Yesterday, I saw author @bubbleybrain.bsky.social post about her book Beautiful Dreamer. Download it. Couldn't put down. Read the whole thing in a day. Highly recommend it.

This is the first holiday I am celebrating without my dad. We used to cook together. Now, it's me cooking and my dad where I cannot ask if I added too much nutmeg. I suppose I can ask, though I doubt I'll get an answer. I want hear him tell me it's "not bad"--the highest of culinary dad praise

Not sure exactly how or when it happened, but somewhere in the last three years or so, I have become acutely aware of birds. Species, migrations, habitats, etc. Birdwatching really did just sneak up me out of nowhere.
