It may well be the National Year of Reading but I wholly support your right not to read on this occasion (although do please check the instructions on the outside of the packet, for safety’s sake 🙏). That is a tome.

Absolute banger! So distinctive. Came on the radio a couple of weeks ago. So much atmosphere packed into every second. Always a treat.

Odesa has aspirations to help with jigsaw puzzles too. I wondered if she would do a ‘Max’ and she hasn’t disappointed.

I watched The Holdovers - really enjoyed it. Snowy. Quite recent. Not sure where it’s available - must have been on Netflix or iPlayer for me to have watched it. Failing that, it’s got to be Back to the Future. 🙂

Life by Inspirals. Includes the track ‘This Is How It Feels’. Doesn’t get much better than that.

The Nintendo Game and Watch Donkey Kong and Snoopy ones were great. Just did a quick search - they are wildly expensive. If you see one at a decent price, snap it up. If you see two, let me know!

I was clinging onto membership and finally resigned yesterday. I feel so sad. Locally, I’m proud of the work Labour have done. But nationally, I can’t support.

I still have my copy of this from Year 6 book club - loved it. Found Westall when I became an English teacher and read Machine Gunners with a Year 8 class then The Scarecrows with Year 9s. Great characters and engaging stories. Still love reading Stone Cold too. Yes, all keepers these.

That’s such great news. I read your vocabulary gap research. It reminded me that my critical thinking is a vital tool as a teacher. Foregrounding my students’ interests when accessing CPD is particularly important. Very easy to let damaging ideologies in. Keep following that thing…

I have one of these. Not used it yet so I’m not sure how good the sound is or if it goes well on carpet. 🤷

I hate being a pedant but I just can’t help it. 😬 Although I have to admit to deliberate mispronunciation (pronounciation - that’s another one) of ‘quinoa’ (like Genoa) and ‘crudite’ (like Luddite). I feel I am guilty of eyebrow hypocrisy. 🤨

Papapapapapapapapapapa, papapapapapapapaa, pa!

Really hoping I got the number of papas right. 🤞

Love that movie intro tune. Mayfair Cinema, Whitefield, 1980s. 🙂

Agreed. Delightful. Anything eaten off these will taste doubly lovely.

I mean, people can be really annoying sometimes but when this sort of thing happens, you realise that most people are just getting by. You’ve got to credit that kind of resourcefulness when coupled with a desire for library membership.

The article with offending ‘chippie’ has been amended. Relief all round. 😅

I thought that too. And have been thinking about it all the way to Manchester on the train. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who questioned it.

It makes a lot of sense. I work in a PRU. Young people I work with have had language behaviours and choices criticised, resulting in identity, family and community viewed as deficient. Very much a social justice issue. Thanks for sharing this and for the work you’re doing.

I interviewed for a job at my placement school 27 years ago. I remember being told that my (/mɪ/) language during the lesson wasn’t standard English. I didn’t get the job. I was told during feedback, as an example, that the way I said ‘my’ should have been /maɪ/, not /mɪ/.
