The revenue that backs the bonds (which is what makes them attractive to bond buyers) doesn't come directly from stadium-induced consumption, it comes from a dedicated tax revenue stream that was expected to fund other things. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE STADIUM.

Yes, this. It took us awhile to understand this extra time just doesn't matter for the AI applications driving these build-outs. Now, companies want cheap land, fast permitting, and cheap labor, which is why many are heading to the South (unions and regulations are weaker there).

We recommend the U.S. Department of Labor maintain funding and staffing levels to at least pre-2025 levels and cancel further cuts.
States can and must also strengthen enforcement of their own workplace standards laws.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has also seen a significant decrease in enforcement this year. OSHA’s imposed penalties dropped 47% from average penalties during similar periods each year since 2009.

The WHD not only ensures fair wages for all workers but enforces prevailing wage provisions in public works contracts. This guarantees market-based wages and benefits for some jobs. Here again, we saw drastic drops in penalties for Davis-Bacon Act violations.

In the first nine months of this year, the Wage and Hour Division issued its lowest total monetary penalties for the same months of any year since 2009 — just $35 million in penalties, an 83% decrease in average penalties.
