If you like automating macos keybind and windowing stuff using lua and tinkering with configs, Hammerspoon can do a lot of neat things and is a good alternative to Alfred. I use Alfred because I'm lazy, but my friends use Hammerspoon. www.hammerspoon.org

the 2019 macbook got rid of magsafe in favor of usb-c charging, which was more convenient. sometimes my dogs would get caught in the cord and pull my laptop with them. I was surprised they brought it back in the new ones. not as convenient, but maybe less risk of damage.

Ok turns out I'm just an idiot--just hold the Option key while clicking the maximize button. Or just double click the titlebar. Hovering gives you options for tiling, and the one that looks like it fills available space is the one that leaves margins. Unless you hold the Option key.

I think my biggest issue with recent macOS is that default maximize doesn't actually fill the screen. It leaves margins, so I have to install a utility (moom classic) just for that. I'm sure there's a better way, but I don't know what it is. This is a dumb problem to have.
